Hi! If reading requests are open like the description currently says, I would like to make a request! Could I get a reading on what I'm missing/doing wrong in regards to my summoning/calling of Spirit A? I apologize if this is something too complicated for a simple reading. Thank you for considering!

No problem! This wasn’t too complicated, I just needed to construct a spread that would set up the reading. I kinda had some issues with the reading, so maybe Spirit A doesn’t want to talk to me either idk.

So you were signified as a Page of Pentacles and Spirit A was signified by Temperance. Considering that your someone who (I’m assuming) is trying to start a journey with this spirit, that tracks to my mind. I think this spirit is around you, but communication may just be slow or stunted at the moment. From the rest of the spread I think that this period of no communication has the potential to end soon, but you’re going to need to slow down (maybe you’re rushing the connection?) and focus on looking for patterns and examine your dreams. Do some self-care and meditate to get you in the right state (it’ll make you feel better at any rate). I also get the impression that A may want you to expand your spiritual skills before establishing a relationship, but that’s just a guess on my part.

I also kept having the reoccurring thought ‘are we sure they’re doing the method right with the intended Spirit’ as I was doing the reading. I don’t say that to try to insult/put down you or your craft, I just include that to say that if you’re feeling like you may be missing something, you may want to go through your process and make sure all rituals/offerings/whatever you’re doing is correct (basically dot your Is and cross your Ts if you feel there’s a gap or error). Now I don’t do a lot of spirit or deity work, but I’m pretty sure you’re on the right track.

Thank you for sending this in, I haven’t been able to do a reading on a topic like this and it’s always nice to stretch my skills in new ways! I hope this helps you out, but if you think you should contact a professional that’s cool too! Additionally if you want to send in updates or feedback both are welcome and appreciated!

I wish you all the luck with contacting A💛

I think one of the most disturbing things about the popular narrative we teach around the Holocaust is how the “No one knew,” myth still flourishes and is still widely spoken and believed. “No one knew what was happening until the camps were liberated! The world was shocked!” was taught to me when I was a child and was likely taught to many of you too. I’ve even heard it said aloud in Holocaust testimonies classes, even after we’ve read testimonies that directly contradict this falsehood. People are really fucking attached to it.

“No one knew!” has been repeatedly disputed and disproven, to the point where the mass narrative of it has become terribly indicative of people’s need to dispel feelings of guilt and shame above all else. Even above telling the truth.

Im p sure the original narrative of “no one knew!” was in part the result of low-level German and Polish bureaucrats seeking to avoid arrest and prosecution, because there was a dearth of specific written orders in regards to outlining the machinations of The Final Solution. Which allowed many to claim ignorance and innocence. But it also has been useful in the reimagining of the allies role in the Holocaust, reimagining their complicit silence and inaction into the shock and disgust of witnesses and good liberators.

Because people DID know. Jan Karski infiltrated the Warsaw ghetto before it was liquidated and witnessed firsthand exactly what was happening to the Jewish people. He was sent by the Polish Underground to the UK carrying a message for the UN titled “The Mass Extermination of the Jews in German Occupied Poland.” He had a direct audience with Roosevelt, where he attempted to provide details of what was happening to compel the allied forces to act before it was too late. This was in 42-43.

In 1944, the New York Times published a story about the Warsaw ghetto uprising WHILE IT WAS HAPPENING. This wasn’t a mystery in the states. People knew about the forced ghettoization of the Polish Jews and what they faced as they fought back.

Lanzmann’s Shoah presents several interviews with Polish onlookers outside of Treblinka who, in laughing and awkward remembrance, explained how they would slash their fingers across their throats at Jewish people arriving in cattle cars to “warn them about their fate.” This was in the early period of the Holocaust, before the mechanized, mass exterminations of Auschwitz.

Also in Shoah, several Polish women and men in villages outside of Sobibor (who smilingly explain that their lot in life improved after the local Jews were rounded up and transported to the death camp) acknowledged that yes, at the time, they knew of the fate of their neighbors. They knew they were going to their death and would not be returning. Which is the only way we can explain how quickly Jewish homes and businesses were taken over by their neighbors and city councils.

Like. I’m neck deep in Holocaust testimonials lately and keep knocking my head against this specific Holocaust myth and I feel horrified that it continues and people keep fucking saying it with little introspection on why the narrative is so attractive to them.

Black Earth, by Timothy Snyder contains this, thematically similar chestnut:

“The big ghettos, such as Warsaw, took on a kind of colonial appearance, as rickshaws replaced automobiles (stolen by Germans) and the streetcar service (restricted by Germans). The luster of subjugation attracted German tourists, who often returned home with a pleasant sense of imperial mastery.”

Snyder points to Elisabeth Harvey’s “Women and the Nazi East: Agents and Witnesses of Germanization” for more details about early/prepatory elements of the Holocaust as a purposefully tourist-accessible spectacle.

From the beginning, the Holocaust was driven by publicly visible violence and deprivation, and often was deliberately made as visible as possible because it served as propaganda to a huge cohort of Germans who actively supported the Nazi regime’s actions and in many cases specifically participated in them.

To claim otherwise is to deny history and give fascists a means to claim ignorance (and hence innocence).

Y E S.

Also what needs to be acknowledged…the public spectacle of starvation and degradation went part and parcel with antisemitic propaganda forwarded by the Nazis. When people witnessed the degradation of the Jewish people in the ghetto, they felt disgusted. This disgust was very strategically directed at the Jewish people themselves, not at the regime who had created their degradation. The nazis specifically considered this in the creation of their uniforms, to be neat and clean and sharp. Juxtaposed with the unkempt, starved, sick and foreign-seeming Jewish people, onlookers were encouraged to place the blame of degradation and dehumanization on the victims instead of on the SS, who were neatly dressed, healthy, cleancut. This propaganda was scarily effective and still is, in the way young white nationalists lean towards rehabilitating the image of Nazi Germany over accepting this history of violence and genocide.

Not to wear out Black Earth but-

The next morning the “scrubbing parties” began. Members of the Austrian SA [the Nazi paramilitary], working from lists, from personal knowledge, and from the knowledge of passerby, identified Jews and forced them to kneel and clean the streets with brushes This was a ritual humiliation. Jews, often doctors and lawyers or other professionals, were suddenly on their knees performing the menial labor in front of jeering crowds. Ernest Pollak remembered the spectacle of the “scrubbing parties” as “amusement for the Austrian population.” A journalist described the “fluffy Viennese blondes, fighting on another to get closer to the elevating spectacle of the ashen-faced Jewish surgeon on hands and knees before a half dozen young hooligans with Swastika armlets and dog-whips.”

Admittedly, that’s from the Anschluss period, which usually is framed as preparation for rather than the enactment of the Holocaust. That said, Snyder lays out the clear historical case that from those kinds of specifically public humiliations to later attempts to incite pogroms in conquered territory emerged the ideas of ghettoizing, then starving, and ultimately systematically killing Jews.

The Holocaust originated as something to be seen, but which people have been taught to believe was invisible as it occurred. There’s a kind of question being begged by that weird discrepancy - why are people so routinely taught something so wildly wrong about it?

i dont think i posted these but here i made a little frog pattern to make tiny frog toys with my grandma

image
image
image
image
image
image

this is the first lil guy I made while still learning how i should sew it

AAA ok so a lot of people have been asking for the pattern to this, tho I’ve been using just these two little papers to do the cut outs lol

image

i tried my best to translate it into digital so that people get a bit more accurate look at them. Tho bear with me I’ve never done an actual pattern design sheet before!

image

so basically my hope is that anyone could print these out to any size of their choosing and get the same result, but ive never tried anything larger than approx. 3 inches with these sooo idk if you try it tag me!

the goal is to sew the backs together to the lines at the tip of the head to the middle of the butt. then leaving a space along the belly piece near the butt end and sewing from one side of the butt including all the legs and the “mouth” to the other side with its legs to get back to the butt. if that makes sense

i usually pause sewing up the body once the head is fully sewn together,, usually after ive sewn both arms and ill yank it inside out where ill start sewing on the little poofball eyes so i know theyre in a good place, then resuming the body, and then pulling the whole thing inside out and pushing out the tips of the limbs with a skinny blunt object like a dull pencil until i can see the stitches. if you attempt this piece definitely make sure you stitch up the arm and leg crevices very well!!!!

then just stuff the lad and sew up his back end and its done :)

one suggestion for fabric is always try to use a stretchy soft fleecy fabric with these because its much easier if mistakes are made during sewing and to hold the ROUND shape better

Overall its a very good use of scraps if you’ve accumulated a lot and don’t know what to do with them 👍👍

image

So I made a frog (huge)

I literally can’t I’m losing my mind over the sheer girth of this frog.

Absolutely incredible.

11/10 and godspeed.

No offence but you know what's really weird about America? You've got hardly any history past a couple of centuries. No medieval castles, no Roman walls, no bronze age settlement sites. Is there even anything for archeologists to dig for?

People have been here for quite some time, they’ve only been white for 500 years

Just because they aren’t traditional western style buildings doesn’t mean they aren’t there. These are only a FEW examples of the monumental architecture built by Native Americans in the US. The “prehistory” of America is as vast and varied as whatever is in Europe.

queen-of-dirt:

As an American studying archaeology this ask filled me with a seething rage

I never understand people who will travel so far to see Stonehenge or Roman ruins but completely discount Cahokia or Mesa Verde. There are SO MANY amazing ancient sites in America. And most of them are comparatively little-known and visited.

I think a difference in Europe is that they seem better at coexisting with their history - there are cities where you can see modern buildings next to ones from the Middle Ages. Our (surviving) ancient sites in the US aren’t in the middle of major population centers, which makes them easier to overlook. I don’t think that’s entirely a bad thing, preservation-wise, but it’s also not an excuse for forgetting they exist.

Folks I live in Atlantic Canada and I’m an hour away from an archaeological site complex that’s at least 11,000 years old, suspected to be 13,000 years old. That’s nearly three times older than the Great Pyramid at Giza. The Wabanaki are called the People of the Dawn for a reason. Come on.

There are multiple temple mounds within 10-20 minutes of me on the gulf coast of Florida that date back more than a millennium, and were actively inhabited areas before the Spanish showed up and committed genocide.

And a whole bunch of Native American people built around astrological events just like Stonehenge. Except they weren’t just using the solstices that happen every year. No, they were using the major lunar standstills which only happen every 18 years.

There are places where Native Americans were building cities without an agrarian lifestyle. Hunter gatherer cities! That is completely different from how western civilization developed! How cool is that! How aggressively does that up end the idea that hunter gatherers were inherently more primitive than agrairian cultures.

The fact that I didn’t learn about any of this until I was in my 30s and actively seeking this information in my own time is criminal.

Taos Pueblo has been continuously inhabited for over 1000 years (due to religious privacy, the people of Taos don’t tell the exact age to outsiders) and the buildings are built in the same way as they have been for that long.

It’s the same age as or even older than most medieval castles and people still call it home.

Exactly. America as a country has a very short history.

But the continent has a much longer one and none of it can be discounted. None of it.

Also, Cahokia is well worth a visit if you are ever in the area. Cahokia also has a henge! A wood henge, but still a henge, very similar to the ones built in northern Europe. It appears to have served a similar purpose. One of the circles has been restored/rebuilt so you can see what it looked like, more or less, although I would lay bets the original pillars were painted.

(Hrm. Was Stonehenge painted?)

Florida used to be COVERED in pre-columbian shell mounds, and most of them were demolished. Like for real a lot of our pre-columbian history has straight up been destroyed because it was in the way.

psa to everyone on antipsychotics during the summertime

some antipsychotics can make you more susceptible to heat exhaustion because they make it so your body cannot regulate your body temperature correctly. I learned this the hard way last summer, I got really nasty heat exhaustion while on a high dose of quetiapine. so check if your meds react badly to heat, and if they do, please be sure to wear your sunscreen, have light cover ups on or with you, wear a hat, and stay hydrated! be safe

especially duloxetine and clozapine, know the signs of dehydration, take cooling breaks if you have to be in the sun

duloxetine is commonly branded in the USA as Cymbalta.

Note: many anti-bipolar meds are also antipsychotics. I found a list of psychotropic meds that can increase risk of heat exhaustion here:

image

Can personally confirm that Latuda/Lurasidone can also mess with your heat response and lead to heat exhaustion if you aren’t careful, like I wasn’t.

call me ignorant but i genuinely don’t understand why sports have to be split up by gender.

@ everyone in the notes talking about physical performance: if that were the case, then sports would be divided by physical performance. that’s a thing you can measure. that’s a thing that varies by individual. a weak man and a strong man would be an unfair fight in boxing/wrestling/MMA, which is why they divide those sports up into weight groups based on physical performance. but they also further segregate them based on gender. chess is segregated by gender for no reason but sexism. if it’s actually about skill and physical ability, then measure those and separate people by those metrics. don’t do some bullshit gender segregation and pretend like men and women are inherently on different levels no matter their individual abilities.

💅

Remember that time a teenage girl struck out Babe Ruth? That’s fucking why. Men are afraid of being beaten by women.

Remember that time male swimmers were pulled out of training because Kate Ledecky was leaving them ‘broken’ by swimming better than them? Remember how she didn’t even notice, because she was busy actually training?

Shooting is a sport that has no reliance on strength and so any allowance for gender variation is irrelevant.

The last time there was a mixed competition (1992) a chinese woman named Zhang Shan won it.

It’s often presented as for the benefit of women. After all, they’ll be heartbroken when they‘re hurt or bested by men.

Projection is a hell of a drug.

also can we talk about how surfing is segregated as well? like how the dude who won this years international surfing cup or whatever was given $30,000 worth of prize money, while the woman who won the women’s comp was only awarded like $16,000 of prize money???? or whatever it was. but I know it was either half or less than half of what the man won. like why can’t they get the same prize money and when they’re competing internationally in the same competition? they surely have the same level of skill and talent.

the pay gap in sports between men and women is fucking insane.

The pay gaps, not to mention lack of sponsorships for women athletes who don’t look like models is insane. If you weigh over 250 pounds, no one will sponsor you. It’s why most female Olympic-class weightlifters live in poverty/out of their cars.

Reminder that in international (and usually national too) womens athletics anybody with 5m/mol of natural testosterone or higher is disqualified. (See legal case of Dutee Chand vs IAAF.)

Do you or somebody you know have PCOS? You are banned from international womens athletics because you are supposedly in posession of an unreasonable advantage in sports.

Folks disqualified for hyper-androgenism in womens athletics.

-

Why are those disqualified overwhelmingly black and brown? Because testing is case by case when an athletes performance “raises suspicions”. They overwhelmingly test athletes of colour, for being too fast and not meeting white expectations of femininity.

Racism and intersexism(discrimination against intersex people) in sports is abject evil. Desegregate sports.

bringing this back in light of the blatant racism and misogynoir in the olympics

“They overwhelmingly test athletes of colour, for being too fast and not meeting white expectations of femininity.”

Imagine if we colonize Mars and now people are born on another planet....would their Astro charts possibly be affected?

Oh Anon I could kiss you! These are my favorite questions (idc if that makes me the Deadpool of the astro blogs)! I had a similar question from a college Astronomy course involving Pluto and the answer may be… weirder than you may think. So strap in maybe, this will be a long -somewhat technical- answer

image

So I think most of the main body of the natal chart would actually stay the same, with a few changes- mostly involving the ascendant, the importance of Mars in the chart, and our Moon with influence from Mars’ moons. Earth might -maybe- also become part of the natal chart.

So now that I’ve laid out my theories about the how, let me explain the why. So, the reason why the rest of the natal chart would be largely unaffected because we’ve already figured out how to calculate planetary transits in astrology so we can continue off those calculations (We just would have a less convenient way of remembering sun signs, it’s harder to say ‘Oh you’re a July Cancer’ when a Martian year is only a bit less than twice an Earth Year. I’m sure we’d figure it out though!). The ascendant would be affected because a Martian day is about 40 minutes longer than ours and is calculated by what sign was on the horizon when we were born (so it may change a bit but not much).

Now for the trickier theories: I think Mars may feel more significant in the chart because people would begin to be born on Mars and it would feel like home (either that or they may feel a deep longing for Earth, an ancestral home we may not be able to return to). Similarly, I feel like Earth may become the planet that signifies a person’s roots, home, and what is familiar/what they relate to. But this is all purely speculation on my part, so I’m going to continue playing in the space. Phobos and Deimos (Mars’ moons) may also also become part of the birth chart and could be used in conjunction with Luna (our moon) and Mars. If this were to happen, I think Phobos would be how we act/why we panic/are afraid while Deimos would be what deeply terrifies us and how we behave when experiencing dread.

Sorry for the doctoral thesis 😅, but this was a ton of fun for me to think about. Anon if you want to send in an ask or a dm for a bigger card reading or submit a chart for analysis, go for it! Asks like these really make me want to give out boons & gifts

Oh and if any other astrologers want to add to this please do! This is only what I could think of off the top of my head 💛
